Who is Stephen Hunsicker?

Stephen Hunsicker is a returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in the Kingdom of Tonga. As a volunteer, it was Steve's job to work with small business owners to either start or improve their business.

Before joining the Peace Corps, Steve spent 23 years in Television News, including 15 years with Freedom Communications. While working for Freedom, Steve ran the news departments of WTVC in Chattanooga, Tennessee and WPEC in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Steve began his TV career in Tallahassee, Florida and has also run TV News Departments in Gainesville, Florida, Harrisburg, Pennsylvannia and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Steve worked his way through West Virginia University by working at radio stations in Morgantown, West Virginia. He graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science.

Steve started his broadcasting career at age 15, when he took a Greyhound bus from his hometown of Lexington, Virginia to Washington, DC to take the exam to get a license to work at a radio station. His first radio appearance was on WLUR, which at the time was a 10 watt station licensed to Washington and Lee University where he volunteered to host a show about his high school.

During his senior year in high school he got a job working at WREL, the only commercial radio station in Lexington where he was a disc jockey and also read some news.

Until he joined the Peace Corps, Steve had only ever had one job that wasn't in broadcasting. Before joining WREL he worked after high school at Lexington Hardware Store.

During his career, Steve has covered three national political conventions, an inaguration, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Pope and the fall of the Berlin Wall. He's weathered many hurricanes and watched many Space Shuttle launches.

Steve likes to travel and has visited 42 US States and 18 Foreign Countries.

Steve currently works for the Peace Corps helping recruit volunteers who want to serve overseas.
